Ms. Aspillaga will soon be seen in the recurring guest starring role of “Monica” on Starz’s new one-hour drama “Flesh and Bone” created by “Breaking Bad” alum Moira Walley-Beckett. She was recently seen at Lincoln Center Theater in “Domesticated” written by Bruce Norris (Pulitzer Prize/Tony Award “Clybourne Park”) directed by Anna Shapiro (Tony Award “August Osage County”) acting alongside Jeff Goldblum and Laurie Metcalf.
She played the part of “Marela” on Broadway in the Pulitzer Prize winning play “Anna in the Tropics” by Nilo Cruz opposite Jimmy Smits. She was nominated for a “Drama League Distinguished Performance Award” and won an HOLA Award for “Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor” for her role as “Daisy” in Rattlestick Playwrights Theater’s production of “underneathmybed” written by her fellow LAByrinth Theater Company member Florencia Lozano.
Her films include: “Alex of Venice,” “Tio Papi,” “Gun Hill Road” (2011 Grand Jury Nominee Sundance Film Festial), “Morning Glory” with Rachel McAdams, “Love and Other Drugs” with Jake Gyllenhaal, “Petty Crimes,” “My Best Friend’s Wife,” “Pyrite,” “Stringer,” and “Mr. Wonderful.” TV includes: Elementary, Gaffigan, The Good Wife, Unforgettable, Rubicon, Law & Order: SVU, Law & Order, The Jury, and Deadline.
Ms. Aspillaga has originated roles in both regional and off-Broadway theaters. Some of the New York theaters she has worked at include: Primary Stages, Signature Theatre, LAByrinth, Women’s Project, New York Shakespeare Festival – Delacorte Theater, The Public, INTAR, La Mama ETC, New York Theatre Workshop, New York Stage and Film, and Brooklyn Academy of Music.
She is a founding member of LAByrinth Theater Company and a “Usual Suspect” at New York Theatre Workshop.
